Buyers looking for a compact or midsize pickup typically want rugged styling, multiple engine and body styles, and optional four-wheel-drive and off-road packages. The 2012 GMC Canyon meets all the criteria, yet is still a truck we hesitate to recommend. It simply lacks the overall refinement and creature comforts of contemporary rivals.
The Canyon's largest obstacles are its aging cabin and subpar materials. We're loath to cynically call the Canyon fleet fodder, but its dated and uninspiring interior makes almost no pretense of trying to compete. Lackluster performance from its base engines, including a five-cylinder that pales against competitive V6s, reinforces our suspicions. Still, the base four-cylinder is competent enough for light around-town duty, and there's also a stout, very capable -- and very thirsty -- V8.
The 2012 GMC Canyon comes standard with the OnStar emergency communications system, antilock brakes, stability control, traction control and head curtain airbags.

Infiniti is trying to make seven its lucky number -- at least when it comes to teasing its new crossover concept.
Today at 7:07 a.m. ET, Nissan's luxury brand released the first teaser photo of the Infiniti JX Concept, its new crossover. The idea is to promote a social media campaign called the "Power of 7."
"Families don't have many luxury vehicle options today. The new Infiniti JX will be the seven-passenger antidote to the ho-hum luxury crossovers that are out there right now," says Infiniti's U.S. chief, Ben Poore.
Infiniti's Power of 7 campaign, taking place, naturally, over the next seven weeks, involves releasing a new image of the vehicle on Facebook every Thursday. (Even though that's not the seventh day of the week).
In case you need a little more motivation to log on, the Facebook page includes an opportunity to win a trip for two to join Infiniti at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Aug. 18 when the JX Concept will be revealed.

In a surprise announcement, the Nissan Leaf has defeated the Audi A8 and BMW 5-Series to earn the title of 2011 World Car of the Year.
Deemed a "gateway to a brave new electric world," the panel of 66 automotive journalists were impressed by the Leaf's pure-electric powertrain and promise of zero-emission motoring.
According to Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, "It is a great joy that the world's first, mass-marketed electric vehicle, the Nissan LEAF, has won the prestigious award of 2011 World Car of the Year. This accolade recognizes Nissan LEAF, a pioneer in zero-emission mobility, as comparable in its driving performance, quietness and superb handling to gas-powered cars."
Oddly enough, despite the WCOTY victory, the Chevrolet Volt beat the Nissan Leaf to be crowned the 2011 World Green Car of the Year.
Other winners include the Ferrari 458 Italia for World Performance Car of the Year and the Aston Martin Rapide for World Car Design of the Year.

This is exactly the kind of thinking that Nissan wants car buyers to do, and the company is encouraging this train of thought by branding the Versa with its Pure Drive efficiency label – first applied to cars in Europe in 2008. The 2012 Versa, sporting a 1.6-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine and weighing 150 fewer pounds than the previous generation model, will be the first Pure Drive vehicle in the U.S. Speaking at the show, Nissan's executive vice-president of the America, Carlos Tavares, said that this "is a real car, complete with air conditioning, vehicle dynamic control, CD/radio with aux in, electric-assisted steering and 15-inch wheels and tires." You want more features, like satellite radio or "Fine Vision instrumentation?" They're available of course, but they'll cost you a bit more.
Tavares said the Versa is already the best selling car in it's segment, and we can see Nissan selling quite a few of these if the numbers talked about today bear themselves out on the road.

The Versa sedan and hatchback models have been good choices for shoppers who want to spend used-car money and get a new car that also happens to have among the lowest ownership costs. And given that, it provides even more comfort and space than you might think; the Versa has been slightly bigger and roomier than other subcompact offerings like the Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, and Ford Fiesta—as well as the Chevrolet Aveo and upcoming Chevy Sonic.
Now for a second-generation, 2012 Versa due later this year, Nissan has kept the "big small car" philosophy but given the Versa improved fuel efficiency, more features, and a better-looking sedan variant. Again, it should appeal to the most frugal shoppers—albeit with fewer compromises this time.
Nissan is calling the 2012 Versa "a clean sheet ground-up design" that involves fewer compromises than other small-car models—as well as the outgoing model.
Not so bold, but less homely
Based on the Versa sedan first shown at the 2012 New York auto show, we can't say the new 2012 version will be revolutionary, but it's slightly less homely; the combination of more flowing sheetmetal and a roofline that arches back takes away much of the old slab-sided look. Also, the adoption of Nissan's 'big car' front end, from the Altima and Maxima, as well as a little more rear overhang, together help with the proportions. Hatchbacks will follow through with a roofline that's quite similar to that of the outgoing model. Inside, it also looks like the Versa won't be at the head of the class with respect to design or appointments, but the simple, uncluttered look should provided no-nonsense commuters with what they need.
The new Versa's dimensions have changed only slightly. It has the same wheelbase and width as the current Versa but is 1.2 inches lower and slightly shorter overall. Trunk space, at 14.8 cubic feet, is slightly more than that of the previous Versa thanks to the slightly longer rear overhang. And while the 90.0 cubic feet of interior volume is slightly less than the previous version, Nissan says that it offers improved rear-seat legroom.

Nissan is recalling at least 195,000 Pathfinder and Infiniti QX4 SUVs sold in 20 cold-weather states and the District of Columbia to inspect steering columns for rust and corrosion.
Nissan is concerned that road salt used in these cold-weather states could cause the steering columns to rust through and possibly break off.
In January, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration started investigating 35 reports of corrosion-related failure of the driver's-side front strut tower. Half of the reports said the failures affected steering, and five of those said the steering column actually broke.
Nissan will start notifying owners on May 16 of the recall. Dealers will inspect the strut housing for corrosion. If none or little is detected, an anticorrosion sealant will be applied. If moderate corrosion is found, resin patches will be applied along with the sealant.
If more significant corrosion is evident, a metal reinforcement plate will be used to support the strut housing assembly. If the car is beyond repair, Nissan said it will "provide an appropriate remedy."
Nissan hasn't specified when it will begin fixing vehicles but said that drivers with immediate concerns can take their cars to a Nissan dealership for inspection at no charge.
The company is recalling 162,658 Pathfinders with 1996-2004 model years and 33,333 Infiniti QX4s from 1997 to 2003 in these places: Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, D.C., West Virginia and Wisconsin. and select the an image with the lights you wish to use (i have cropped my image).
Draw a selection round the lights you wish to transplant onto your car
and then paste it into your document. Now the these lights are the wrong shape and rotation so we just rotate them into place and reduce the opacity so that we can see the original lights behind.

Now select the eraser tool, use small soft brush and have opacity on fill one 35% are ad careful remove excess to shape your lights onto your car. You will want to zoom in quite close).Repeate for the other side using this technique in yuo can replace the original lights with some more stylish ones.
If you wish to use different shape from the lights ordinal. Then you must use the smudge and blur tool to smooth the lights in to the body work, its all trail and error so i cant really help you any more than to blend slowly and keep zooming in and out to see what the effect looks like then zoom back in to make changes, and only make small changes.

GENEVA–Italy's Fiat SpA is considering Mexico as a base to build its Alfa Romeo sports cars for export to the United States, a huge market where it plans to return sometime after 2008.

Fiat has been thinking about building the cars somewhere in North America to avoid the cost of exporting them from Italy, given the euro's strength against the dollar.

"It could be Mexico," Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne told Reuters Tuesday at the Geneva auto show when asked whether that country could be a likely location for a plant.

Fiat should decide later this year what to do, he added.

The head of Alfa Romeo, Luca De Meo, told Reuters in an interview that he and his team have yet to decide on what models to sell in the United States.

Details including the kind of distribution network to use should be disclosed in the coming months, he said.

Although Marchionne had previously set 2009 as the year to enter the United States, De Meo declined to confirm it.

But he said he had already started thinking about other markets where Alfa Romeo is present by reputation only.

"The United States is fine but there are also other regions where Alfa Romeo can use its image (to its advantage)," he said, citing China, Russia and South America as possibilities.

De Meo spoke to Reuters after showing off a convertible version of the Alfa 8C, a special edition car. Like the hardtop 8C, only 500 units of the convertible version will be sold.

De Meo took charge of Alfa Romeo in December after succeeding in turning around the Fiat brand.

Alfa Romeo is seen by analysts as a bigger challenge for him, however.

Although it could generate the biggest profit margins among Fiat's three brands, it needs a lot of work.

Its sales are mediocre and it losses trunkloads of money.

Years of poor parts and service have given it a bad name, denying it the premium status enjoyed by rivals like Volkswagen AG's Audi and BMW AG .

De Meo's predecessor, Antonio Baravalle, had focused on improving customer service and expanding the dealer network in Germany and United Kingdom, two key markets in which to expand.

The revival of the brand has included a refurbishment of its main plant at Pomigliano d'Arco in Italy; but the plant's closure for the last two months has led to a loss of sales.

De Meo said one of his priorities this year is to try to recover those sales.

Another priority is the launch of a compact car with the working name of the Junior. The car would mark Alfa Romeo's entry into a new segment with a younger clientele.

As he works towards the 2010 sales targets set by Marchionne for every division within the Fiat industrial group, De Meo said he hopes to restore Alfa Romeo's place among premium brands by the time of its 100th anniversary on June 25, 2010.

"We need to restore the values of Alfa Romeo," he said, adding that the brand's birthday could be marked by the launch of a new model apart from the 149 and 169 scheduled to come to market in the coming years. curt hitch.

Chrysler has eliminated 22,000 jobs since February of 2007 and now has approximately 66,000 employees. It is planning to eliminate another 4,000 jobs during 2009.

Officials from privately held Chrysler have confirmed the company lost 1.9 billion dollars in 2007 and has lost approximately 400 million dollars through the first half of 2008.

Vice chairman Jim Press recently said the company was in no danger of bankruptcy and has cash reserves of 11 billion dollars.

He has also said the company is continuing to evaluate alliances with other companies.

The automaker said this week that its principal owner, Cerberus, is discussing buying Daimler AG's remaining 19.9 percent stake in Chrysler.
